Mild winter has brought whitebaits to the surface and progressive surface feeding pattern for trouts and salmon. It seems a bit early for surface feeding, but as a fisherman I did not complain trout slicing through surface in kingfish like manner chasing whitebaits.
For us keen anglers nutting cold and frosty weather it was a welcome sights. Stalking the whitebait (very hard to see) on shore line and waiting for trouts to get into casting range, and sight fishing with streamers… Needless to say it was exiting. May this fun continue as long as winter lasts.
