Thank you for visiting our new website, all the technical issues are thing of the past, and we are looking forward to do regular updates without a hitch.
Mataura River is fishing as good as I can remember for a long time. Those browns had a rough start with cold and wet winter, numbers were there but the size were bit off the peak at the beginning of the season. They were about 2.5lb on average, with the steady high flow we had for last 2 months, they must have had a good spring feed, average size trout in the same stretch of the river went up another 1lb. Whether same fish grew or bigger fish came out of a depth I am not sure, however the mighty Mataura fishing is on fire. Average size trout now is about 3.5lb and started to see a few around 5lb mark.
No doubt we will face a tough month or two ahead with hot summer predicted, let’s hope the fish’s mojo stays the same though out the season.
Wishing you all a very merry christmas and lots of tight lines!
